Privacy Policy

What Dink & Carreau collects (almost nothing), what it stores (your cookie choice, on your device), and your rights.

Last updated: October 2026.

Dink & Carreau (“we”) is a small bilingual magazine. This policy explains what happens to your information when you read it. The short version: we collect almost nothing and we sell nothing. We show ads from Google AdSense, which may use cookies — details below.

Information we collect

We do not ask you for anything. There are no accounts, no forms, no newsletters, no comments. You can read every page without telling us who you are.

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically receives standard technical information when your browser loads a page — your IP address, browser type, and the page requested — in its server logs. We do not combine this with anything else, and we do not use it to identify you.

Cookies and local storage

We use one piece of local storage on your device:

  • dc_cookie_consent — remembers whether you accepted or declined the cookie banner, so we don’t ask you twice. Essential.

We run no analytics (no Google Analytics or equivalent).

Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)

We show ads served by Google AdSense. Google may set cookies on your device to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads based on your interests.

  • If you consent to personalized advertising (via the notice shown on your first visit), Google may use cookies to show you ads tailored to your interests.
  • If you decline, you’ll still see ads, but they won’t be personalized.

You can control ad personalization anytime in your Google ad settings. See also how Google uses data from partner sites.

Our house banner (the voice-studio promo) remains a plain link to an external site — it sets no cookies on our behalf and sends us no data about you.

Our pages link to external sites (for example, the voice-studio banner ad). Once you click through, their privacy policies apply, not ours.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Since we hold no personal data about our readers, there is generally nothing to delete — but if you believe otherwise, write to us and we will answer.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves — for instance, if we ever add analytics or a newsletter, this page will say so first. Changes take effect when posted here, with the “last updated” date revised.
